My life before coming to the Mission was hopeless. I followed the wrong crowd at an early age, looking for acceptance, love and fulfillment; only ending up more broken and empty. My life consisted of addiction, promiscuity, and indulging in a sinful life style. I didn’t care about anyone but myself and most of the time I didn’t even care about myself.
I wanted to quit doing drugs, and I knew I needed help to stop. I was homeless and my life was going nowhere. I cried out to God and He led me to the Mission. I met my Lord and Savior at the Mission where I joined the New Life Program, and I learned how to apply God’s principles to my life. Now, living for God and others gives me great joy and fulfillment.
I graduated the Rescue Ministry Training Program with a fulltime job in New York, where I got to spend 18 months ministering to broken people like I was. My time there was paramount to my growth and has prepared me to return to the place that has greatly impacted my life. I’m excited for the future and what God is doing at the Modesto Gospel Mission.
The verse I stand on is, “Delight thyself also in The Lord, and He shall give thee the desires of thine heart.”
– Psalms 37:4 KJV
