Hello Friends of the Mission,
As the leaves start to change, we are excited for what God is doing here at the Modesto Gospel Mission. While we reflect on all that He has done throughout the summer we want to say thank you for all your support. Thank you to everyone who has supported or was a part of our Gala. The fellowship, fantastic food, and amazing experience with Phil Wickham would not have been as spectacular without you there with us. Because of your generosity, the Mission will continue to offer warm beds, hearty meals, and safe haven to those in need this fall season. Thanksgiving is around the corner and we need your help as we begin collecting coats, gloves, hats, scarves, and canned food. Our donation dock will be looking for these items from now until our giveaway event on November 24th. If you are interested in volunteering with us and handing out coats and a warm Thanksgiving dinner, please feel free to check out our open volunteer opportunities at www.modestogospelmission.volunteerhub.com or by emailing our Volunteer Coordinator Emily Pedersen at email@example.com.
Now we turn the page and enter a new brisk season of harvest and rest. In this season consider the leaves. Each leaf is unique, vibrant with color, and displays evidence of its Creator. Its shape, function, and origin are all characteristics that are intentionally set in place by its Maker. How silly would it be for the leaf to tell its designer how it should be formed, fashioned, and the purpose it should serve. God, the Artist, would probably laugh at the leaf because He creates the features, and He has the authority to design the leaf. Much like the dazzling leaves in fall, we are “fearfully and wonderfully made…” (Psalm 139:14). God has created each of us with uniqueness, vibrance, beauty, and purpose. Take time in this season to remember your Maker. Let Him set the terms of your life and let go of control. You were made to reflect your Creator even in the change. Meet Jack! He is our volunteer campus pastor. Jack faithfully serves here at the Mission through his listening ears, prayers and encouraging devotionals. If you have been encouraged through the devotionals that have been in our newsletters then you have experienced a small dose of Jack’s contagious spirit. Read below to learn more about Jack!
“Serving as a volunteer at the Mission is such a joy! I was warmly welcomed into the Mission family when I began volunteering several months ago. It’s a privilege to serve alongside the other chaplains and volunteers in both the Freedom Road Day Program and New Beginnings recovery program. We study God’s word and learn to apply it in becoming faithful followers of Jesus Christ, as well as provide pastoral counseling for spiritual support and encouragement. It’s such a blessing to be a small part of seeing lives changed by the power of the Gospel, and the hope offered at the Mission for a better future in Christ. If you sense God is leading you to volunteer, please come and join us! You will be blessed!”

God Gives Hope:
All of us need hope, feeling that life must get better! How can we feel hope when chaos swirls around us? How can we have hope when we feel broken, our families are in turmoil, or life is a mess? Here is good news! God tells us that He is the God of Hope. His hope fills us with joy and peace! That’s what we all want and need! Sound too good to be true? The hope that He promises does not depend on having it all together. In fact when life is hardest, that’s when we know that His hope doesn’t depend on our circumstances. When health is poor, finances are bad, relationships are hurting, Jesus comes and offers you his hope. God says that the Holy Spirit makes hope possible by believing. Sound too easy? God said it, and we believe it! Ask Him to give you the hope you long for, the hope you need today!
