You cannot drive a car without fuel, and in the same way, you cannot successfully live the Christian life without hope. It’s hope that keeps us moving forward, faithfully putting one foot in front of the other, even in the dark.
However, hope is only as strong as the substance of that hope. When the substance that keeps us going day-to-day is anything or anyone outside of Jesus, it is only a matter of time until we are greatly let down. For those of us who proclaim the name of Jesus Christ and place our faith and hope in him, we have a hope that does not fail us. We have a redeemer who takes our brokenness and transforms our pain into something beautiful.
“Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful.” – Hebrews 10:23
The only reason our hope has any power to sustain us is because of who we place our hope in. Because Jesus is faithful, our hope is assured.
Psalms 27:13 says “I remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living.”
As we continue to traverse this heart-heavy season in life, let us bring our worries to the God who cares for us, knowing we can place our hope in He who is faithful.
