What proof do you have that God has been working in your life? How can you tell that you are changing day-to-day and that Christ is on display through you? Fruit is visible proof of ongoing change and growth, and Galatians 5:22-23 details the “fruits of the spirit”.
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.”
Things may swirl in chaos around us, but notice that peace is a fruit of the spirit. Philippians 4:7 tells us that in Christ we have a peace that surpasses all understanding. This peace does not need perfect circumstances to be felt – in fact it’s just the opposite. God’s peace can be felt when our world is crumbling, and by all logical understanding, we should be in a state of panic and turmoil – but we are not. Christ, in His love and grace, gives us the ability to rise above our circumstances and provides us with peace in order that we may do His righteous work and be a conduit of His love.
As you navigate all of life’s changes and new circumstances that threaten to steal our peace and sanity, let the love of Christ and the fruit of His goodness flow through you. As you seek the Lord and His goodness, remember Philippians 4:6.
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”
