From the time we wake up to our laying down we are faced with decisions, uncertainties, and fears. With all the emotions we must traverse through daily, fear likely tops them all. If not properly dealt with, fear can be debilitating, leaving us stuck and unable to participate in God’s will for our life.
With this in mind, how do we handle when nerves turn into anxiety, when concern turns into worry and when caution turns into fear?
1 Peter 5:7 states “Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.”
First, we must admit our feelings openly to our Father. We serve a God who cares about what we are going through, and our Heavenly Father is most certainly there. When anxiety hits like a truck or it feels like you’re going to drown, HE IS THERE.
Next, we should utilize the church by calling on friends who will pray with us and encourage us. God has given us a body of believers to sharpen, comfort, and build us up in times of need.
Finally, we need to submit ourselves to the presence of Christ, and choose to seek His voice. Open your bible and read verses that pertain to your situation. Worship God in your fears.
Though it does not feel like it, there is nothing outside of the control and hands of Jesus. In His love, we can draw comfort and peace.
“For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:38-39
