Has anyone ever told you not to worry in a moment of panic? Did it work? Did you actually stop worrying? Chances are no, and if anything, it just irritated you. Yet many times in the world, issues and problems come and crash into us like tsunami waves that we are simply not prepared to handle.

It’s necessary in times like these to stop and begin to look at the characteristics of God, such as His loving kindness and faithfulness. Many times we are commanded to “fear not”. This isn’t because God doesn’t understand the magnitude of what’s going on in our lives, but because our Lord is offering us security. As Christ encourages us to shift our perspective and our mind set to focus on Him, we can consider Hebrews 10:23 which states “Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful.” It is not because of anything that we have done that we can be secure and abandon worry. It’s because our God who has promised to loves us and takes care of us is faithful.

Psalms 91:4-6 says “He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart. You will not fear the terror of night, nor the arrow that flies by day, nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness, nor the plague that destroys at midday.”

We can be encouraged and take refuge in that no matter how we feel, our God is faithful.
