Hello Champions,

The Christmas season is upon us, and we at the Modesto Gospel Mission are ready to make Christmas a tangible reality for many families in the community that are in need. Each one of you have chosen to demonstrate love to the “least of these,” and therefore the Mission can pour out hope to those experiencing hard times this winter. The purpose that drives us here at the Mission is that Jesus Christ truly is the reason for this special season.

In Luke 2:11, the Bible records the angelic proclamation over 2,000 years ago: “Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.” This gift of salvation is the light that sparks us as a ministry to be the hands and feet of Jesus during this most difficult season.

This year with Covid-19, we as a team have come together to plan an event that will “deliver” Christmas to the community unlike any previous years. This year we will set up a special “Christ Workshop” in a separate building that will provide good Christmas gifts for kids and adults in need. During the weeks leading up to Christmas, we will allow individuals and families to schedule an appointment to visit the Christ Workshop and choose presents for Christmas in a way that provides safety and health to all. Although the Mission will still distribute Christmas meals on December 23rd as it does every year, this Christ Workshop will replace the gift portion of our Christmas event so that we will minimize potential exposure and maximize safety during this continued pandemic.

I am so grateful that I was offered and I have received the greatest gift, which was Christ coming to this world to save people from their sins. What a joy it is even during a pandemic to serve the Lord and the people He loves. Thank you for being such an amazing partner with us as we continue to bring the gospel of salvation and provide hope for so many that are battling poverty, addiction, and homelessness.

Merry Christmas!
