Dear Friend of the Mission, Merry Christmas!

I’m thankful for God’s provision to the Modesto Gospel Mission in 2018, and I am grateful for each of your hearts. You are the true champions of our community, and you have been a blessing to so many this past year. Can you believe that Christmas is upon us? Our biggest event is here, our Happy Birthday Jesus Party! We love to celebrate the reason for the season, the birth of Jesus Christ our Savior.

“Behold, I bring you good news of a great joy which shall be for all
the people. For today in the city of David there has been born for
you a Savior, who is the Anointed One, the Messiah, Christ the Lord.” Luke 2:10-11

What a time of blessing this is to the thousands that will come and receive a Christmas meal and gift at the Modesto Gospel Mission. The night before our Happy Birthday Jesus Party, people start to line up outside our front doors. We serve hundreds of homeless. But many of those we help during this time are the “working poor”, families who are not homeless but live in impoverished and often dangerous neighborhoods in our region. Many families may live together in one small rented house. Some may have a roof over their heads but no electricity or running water. Still others are one paycheck away from homelessness. It’s hard to believe, but even here locally we have men, women, and children who struggle to eat even one meal a day.

At our Happy Birthday Jesus Party, however, each person is served a hot Christmas meal. Then each man, woman, and child heads to our chapel to choose a gift for themselves. Of course, the best part of this is seeing the excitement on the children’s faces as they pick out bikes, toys, and even motorized cars. All these gifts are donated by faithful servants like you! This Christmas party caps off a very successful year. Because of the generosity and faithfulness of our donors and volunteers, we have been able to serve thousands that are lost and hopeless in our community this past year. During this time of the year, we see an increase of men, women and children that come through the Modesto Gospel Mission for refuge, recovery, and restoration through the power and love of Jesus Christ.

You have ignited hope this 2018, and through your willingness to be the hands and feet of Jesus Christ, lives are being changed through the ministry of the Mission. As we head into Christmas and the end of the year, please remember the Modesto Gospel Mission. We rely on you to make tax-deductible contributions at the end of the year to carry the Modesto Gospel Mission into the next year. Please consider making a donation to us so we can move forward into 2019 on strong footing.

We love you and appreciate you! Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! We will have a treat in January’s letter, as we share the impact and testimonies from Thanksgiving and Christmas with each of you. May God bless you with His grace and mercy during this time we celebrate the birth of the King of Peace, whose very name means “God With Us.”

“But when you do a charitable deed, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, that your charitable deed may be in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will
Himself reward you openly.”
